Purpose of Hajj

Hajj is the obligatory Ibadah mandatory to perform by all mentally, physically and financially stable Muslims. It is the fifth pillar of Islam; a way to commence your jaunt to Heaven. The eminence of performing Hajj can be estimated by the following verse of the Holy Quran;
“And pilgrimage to the house (Bait Ullah) is obligatory upon mankind owed o Allah for whoever can find a way there.”
Hajj is performed in the remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim AS and the incident happened in his life that can serve as a perfect exemplification of a congenial life. Almost all of the rituals performed during Hajj are the commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s Sunnah and in order to understand and perform your Hajj in a better manner, it will be a gainful practice to read his life before going to the holy land.
Hajj is not only an Ibadah but a complete conduction for a better personality. The purpose of Hajj is to make a Muslim to serve as a human being in an improved custom. It is the duty of a Muslim to prepare him and his heart to attain the purpose of Pilgrimage so let us enlightened numerous aspects related to the purpose of Hajj.

Reliance on Almighty:

The question is non- talkative among the Muslims about their faith on Almighty because every single aspect of a Muslim’s life elicit his firm believe on his Creator SWT. During and after the deliverance of major Pilgrimage, the firm belief of a Muslim on Almighty gets more strengthen because Hajj is the Ibadah that freshens a Muslim’s Emaan by notifying the idyllic objectives a person has in his life. Faith, reliance or Tauheed engraved in a Muslim’s heart when he enters in the state of Ihram forgetting all of forbidden things by Almighty.

Meekness:

Like all other Ibadah in Islam, the main objective of Pilgrimage is tractability and obedience. Hajj being the Ibadah jam-packed with ultimate obedience accomplishes the purpose. When a Muslim wears Ihram, he admits his helplessness and that he is nothing without the mercy of Almighty Allah. Muslims during Hajj asks forgiveness by their Lord and supplicate for a better life here and here after. No Ibadah can get completion without being amalgamated with the fulfillment of commands of Allah. Haj, being a religious obligation; when performed by the Muslims basically depicts that a Muslim obey his lord and follow whatever he is commanded with.

Piety; the Standard of superiority:

The last sermon of Hajj delivered by Prophet Muhammad SAWW endeavors a complete code of life to not only Muslims but to all of the mankind because the sermon covers all of the aspects pertaining to spend a person’s life in a fair and a proper manner. It was clarified in this sermon that all Muslims or precisely all human beings are equal and no one is dominant over the other on basis of some materialistic measures. A Muslim is highly forbidden to think him superior than the others because all of the humans are made equal. When the Muslim pilgrims stand altogether inside Masjid al Haram or Prophet’s mosque to bow their heads in front of Almighty Allah, then no one is grander than the other and no distinction is made among the people. The last sermon of Hajj assures that no one feels himself inferior than the other and it was narrated by Prophet Muhammad SAWW that no Arab is superior over a non- Arab and no white is superior over a black; the standard of superiority in Islam is piety (“Taqwa” belief on God).

Brotherhood:

If one has to understand the concept of peace, harmony and brotherhood then he cannot find a place better than the Grand mosque. More than three million people gathered altogether to perform a single ritual at a single time at a same place. Despite of the color, cast, country or nation every Muslim stands with each other to fulfill his religious duty. At the days of Hajj no difference seems among the people practicing their obligatory Ibadah in the Masjid al Haram. This depiction makes Hajj an Ibadah that is endow to mark a Muslim admired by his Lord.

Reminder of the last rest place:

This world is temporary and sooner or later everyone has to taste the afterlife. Remembrance of your afterlife is healthy sign for a Muslim as it makes the Emaan of a Muslim stronger. Hajj is the excellent reminder of the Day of Judgment and life her after. Ihram; the two piece whit sheet makes a Muslim to understand the reality of his life by depicting that at the end no one can take nothing along with him but only his good deeds. It makes a Muslim to greed here as less as he can because this greed of his will become his foe at the End day.

Patience; the true companion:

For a person to persist his life in peace and harmony, patience is necessary. You cannot achieve anything without being patient. Hajj is the best way to be a patient person. Being such a massive gathering Hajj is bequeath to induce patience in a person. Being in such a crowded place, a person has to persist fortitude by remaining the patience of Bibi Hajra who ran here and there to quench the thirst of his infant child but never lose her faith on Almighty.

Islam is the religion of peace, harmony, love and patience. It always preaches not to harm anyone even if it’s an animal. The fact that Islam and the teachings of Islam have been confused with the wrong doings of the individual and the religion is always on target. But that is also true that those who study Holy Quran, read about the life of Prophet Muhammad SAWW, learn about the blessings of the Lord who created us all gets influenced by it and many of them wants to convert to Islam from their religion. The softness and harmony that Islam gives to an individual cannot be find out in any other religion.

If you are a new converter to the religion of peace;

Islam and wants to know about the essentials and basics of Islam then this blog will surely going to help you out. Firstly, our site “Travel for Umrah” congratulates you on your huge and accurate decision to convert to Islam and for making your afterlife worthy. Now we will discuss the facts and figures about Umrah and what should be done if you are a new convert and wants to go on a holy journey of Umrah.
The very first thing you need is to know about what is the importance of the pilgrimages (both Hajj and Umrah) is in Islam. Hajj is among the five pillars of Islam and is a necessity to do when you have enough resources to perform it. Those who do not perform it while having sources will face the wrath of Almighty on the Day of Judgement. Umrah is non- obligatory Hajj and is often referred as “Minor Hajj”. Its performance is not necessary however; if you perform Umrah then it is a source to bring great virtue and will affect your life in a very positive manner.
After knowing that, you have to know about the method or process used to perform pilgrimage. Numerous sites including our site “Travel for Umrah” wrote a number of blogs on the complete procedure to perform Umrah. The process begins with making intention and then a pilgrim recites Talbiyah at the point of Meeqat after which the holy city of Makkah starts. The two rituals (making Niyyah and reciting Talbiyah) are referred as “Ihram”. On arrival to Makkah city and inside Masjid al Haram, after settling down in your accommodations, pilgrims come down to the Mataf area to perform Tawaf. After Tawaf, Sai is performed between the great Mounts of Safa and Marwah. After Sai, the shaving of head is done and finally your pilgrimage gets complete. All these rituals individually are elaborate in our previous blogs that you can consult for your guidance.
After knowing about what Hajj and Umrah are and how to perform different rituals pertaining to it then come the plan to go on a trip to Makkah to clean your soul. You should remember that after being a Muslim you have no sin on you that you did in your past in the time being when you were a non- believer. Now you have to put a firm believe on Allah Almighty and search the desire in your heart to see Holy Kabah in front of your eyes. You will surely find an utmost desire to visit the Holy cities of Makkah and Madina even once in your life. For the sake of fulfillment of your dream, proceeds the process that should be done to go to an Umrah trip. What package do you choose for your trip is the next step in the process? Usually 3 star, 4 star and 5 star packages re offered by the Travel agencies and you have to opt among them. Travel for Umrah also bestows these 3 types and range packages at very cheap and affordable prices. You can opt from these packages in accordance to your family size or group size and according to your pocket, how much you can afford.
After finalizing the package, let’s pack the luggage. What you need inside your Umrah bag? That would be the very first question you will ask from yourself. Yu can have you passport, identity card, visa, pictures, entrance permit etc kind of things always with you. Other than that, toiletries, clothes, comfortable slippers, nail clipper, hair brush, sun block, daily usage lotion, tooth brush and stuff like that should be the part of your luggage. A detailed article on what you should bring with you in regards to the Umrah luggage is present on the site of Travel for Umrah and you can consult it for complete information.
Make it sure to bring books having special supplications and a pocket Quran with you. As you are a new convert, you may not memorize more Surah while if you recite them again and again you will be able to memorize them also. Quranic verses are also great supplications in time of need. Many of the verses from sacred Book are recited in need and also in times of happiness. Try to supplicate them more and more with knowing their meanings. For the purpose, take books with you that have translation below them in your native language. Same is the matter with Holy Quran. Arabic is an unknown language for the people who were born to be Muslims. For a new convert it will be more difficult to understand. If you have the Holy Quran in your native language translation, then it will help you a lot in understanding the great words of the great Book.
After performing Umrah you will be able to see the world and its matter with a new perspective and also your view about many things get changed in a positive way.

Can a person with tattoos go on Hajj?

Why is it mandatory to have an ablution and clean your body before undertaking an Islamic act?
The answer is that it is commanded by Allah SWT to make our body and soul clean to indulge in the act comprising remembrance of Allah and this should be dominant over every other act. Performing Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam and the same condition is required to accomplish this task. We have to be in a state in which any kind of impurity is impermissible.
Now a-days it can be said as a trend to draw tattoos on different body parts that are emphatically prohibited in Islam. Before the major subject, let you think first about why women are forbidden to offer Salah if they are wearing make-up or if their nails are painted? It’s because of the substance layer that covers your body and the ablution water doesn’t reach your body directly due to which your body still remains unclean and none of your worship will be accepted. Same is the case with tattoos. Tattoos are an extra covering over your body due to which your body can’t come in a state to be called as clean. In spite of this, we are not permitted to enact an amendment in our body as we are sent by Allah Almighty and have to return to Him. By making tattoos our body contain something additional. Another aspect is the agony through which the person suffers while making tattoos.
Sheikh Yousaf Al-Qaradawi, a Muslim scholar states:
“Islam condemns immoderations in beautifying oneself when it alters the physical features that Allah made him with.”
According to some scholars tattooing is not prohibited if the tattoos are temporary like using Hina (a thick brown paste used by Muslim women to beautify their hands and often by men on their beard) but permanent tattoos are prohibited.
Holy Prophet SAWW, the Messenger of Allah SWT was sent to the world to spread the message of Islam and to tell about the forbidden acts. He SAWW cursed those who made tattoos. Hazrat Abu Juhayfah RA narrated:
“Holy Prophet SAWW cursed the one who does tattoos and the one has a tattoo done”
Tattoos are also prohibited regarding biological security. Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a Canadian scholar states because tattooing is the source to cause AIDS, hepatitis and other ailments.
Though it’s generally a prohibited act but now the question arises for hajjis that can they perform Hajj with tattoos? So radically if they can, then they should remove this before reaching the Holy Kabahbut as it is so costly as well as agonic and if the Hajjis cannot remove this then they can perform Hajj but they are conditioned to seek forgiveness with pure intentions and make true repentance. Their worship act will be accepted but they should make arrangements to remove this as soon as possible.

Is it possible to go for Hajj without a male Mahram?

Is it possible to go for Hajj without a male Mahram?
Before the advent of Islam, women were treated in the worst manner. They were dealt like animals, had no prestige, were sold to others, had no part in family’s matter regarding finance and were even buried alive when born.Islam was the religion that gave them honor and the rights to live like a human. It was the religion that treated them like human beings equivalent to men.
In Islam, women are obliged to cover themselves in a proper manner; in a way that does not be endowed to raise any negative thought or doing. It is considered to be against the so called “expression of freedom” because it does not give women the liberty to dress themselves the way they like. If we see on the other side it is totally for the sake of a woman’s protection and shelter. Islam gives them the prestige they deserve and the honor they carry.
For the same purpose, it is not a recommended practice in Islam to travel alone for a woman after a certain limit of distance. It is not allowed to Muslim women to go on a Hajj or Umrah jaunt without a male Mahram. The reasons are many but the main one is the protection of Muslim ladies that has been stated in many of the hadith. It was narrated that Hazrat Ibn e Abbas stated that Prophet Muhammad SAWW said;
“No women should travel without her Mahram and no man should enter upon a woman unless she has a Mahram with her.” A man sitting questioned to the Holy Prophet SAWW that he wants to go with such and such an army and his wife wants to go for the Hajj jaunt. Then Prophet Muhammad SAWW said “Go for Hajj with her.”
At another occasion Hazrat Abu Huraira RA narrated that Prophet Muhammad SAWW stated about women that;
“It is not permitted to a Muslim woman who believes (in the existence of) Almighty Allah and the Last day to travel for the distance of one day and one night except with her Mahram.” Some of the narrations say the time is of “two days”.
In the light of these hadith it is clear that a Muslim woman is not permitted to travel for a hauled distance without her Mahram (the one who can assure her safety).
Majority of the Muslims agree on the obligation of a male essential to go with a lady on her jaunt of Hajj. It is worthy to be clarified that the Mahram is the one male with whom a Muslim lady has no danger of being harmed in any mean. Mahram is the one who is trustworthy or putting in simple words, the one with whom you cannot marry nor have the peril of any sexual attack. It can be father, grandfather, son, husband, brother, nephew, maternal uncle, paternal uncle, grandson and son- in law.
However, there is a slight difference in views between the two sects of Muslims regarding Muslim ladies carrying Mahram; the Sunni sect and the Shia sect. Sunni sect is assured 100 % on the fact that the Sunni women are obliged to have a male Mahram along with them for their excursion of Hajj and Umrah. The rule is not specifically for Hajj and Umrah but is on travelling. A woman is not allowed to spend 92 kilo meters away from her Mahram. On the 93rd kilo meters she travelled, she requires a Mahram for sure and if she is not carrying a male Mahram along with her, then her jaunt will be considered as sin in accordance to the Sharia. All of the Sunni scholars agree on this obligation and of course according to this obligation, women are not permitted to go Makkah for the deliverance of Hajj.
On the other hand, Shia sect is collectively agreed on the rule that it is not necessary to have a male Mahram along with you at your excursion of Hajj or Umrah. In accordance to Shia sect, women are not forbidden to travel without their males and can perform Hajj even being the part of a group. It is also clarified over here that for travelling without Mahram, a woman and also her guardians must be sure that she will be in safe hands and will be safe during her excursion. In case of even a tiny piece of doubt will lead you to not go to perform Hajj in a group of people. Women must take care of their Hijab during their trip. It is also considered better to travel with a Mahram in Shia sect also. However in case of absence of a guardian (Mahram) she can travel with a trustworthy and a reliable group.
The groups for the Hajj can be a bunch of known or unknown people. In such situation, conditions are applied to travel with a group. Sometimes people plan their jaunt of Hajj inside their family, neighbors, and friends or among the people they know. Sometimes the groups are however made by the travel agent or the travel agency a pilgrim has to travel with. In such case, people are totally unfamiliar with each other and one cannot assure the shelter of an alone woman. It will then not be an appreciable practice to travel without Mahram even in the Shia sect concept. If a woman has panned to travel with her relatives or known peer then she can go on Hajj without her male Mahram.
On the other hand, Sunni sect is agree on a single fact and that is a Muslim woman cannot cross a distance more than 92 kilo meters except her Mahram and of course the travelling also refers Hajj and Umrah excursions. It is basically told to be avoided by the Muslim woman to spend night outside their homes (safe place) without their Mahram so as the Hajj is a hauled jaunt in which a pilgrim has to stay for a month or more from his or her home it is forbidden to travel alone for ladies.
